Wesley Beddard retired as the ninth President of Martin Community College on December 31, 2023. Beddard had a
41-year career in higher education, including 34 years within North Carolina Community Colleges. His career
included work as an Admissions Officer, Assistant VP for Finance, faculty, division dean, and Chief Academic Officer. He also worked at the North Carolina Community College System as Business Programs Coordinator/Associate Director of Programs and Associate VP for Programs. While working as AVP for Programs he helped lead the articulation efforts with the UNC System and North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities resulting in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement with UNC and the Independent CAA with NCICUs as well as additional systemwide articulation agreement in Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, and Nursing. Beddard lives in Williamston with his wife, Kaye, who retired as a community college instructor. They have two adult sons who attended NC community colleges.
