Recently, representatives of Management Certification of North America (MCNA) spent two-and-a-half days at Kanban facilities reviewing the company’s quality procedures.
In an effort to cross-check quality assurance processes, Kanban hosted representatives of Management Certification of North America (MCNA) for two-and-a-half days at Kanban facilities for a review of the company’s quality procedures. This “surveillance audit” is done yearly as part of the maintenance of Kanban’s certification to the ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100C (aerospace) quality standards. Actual re-certifications happen on a 3-year cycle. These interim reviews are designed to ensure that Kanban is adhering to the ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100C quality standards. The representatives from MCNA found that Kanban is meeting those standards and determined that the company is on track for a successful re-certification as long as they maintain their current quality standards.
The AS9100 quality standard is the quality management system recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration as the standard for the aerospace industry. Major aerospace manufacturers and suppliers worldwide require compliance and/or registration to AS9100 as a condition of doing business with them. The certification applies to warehousing and logistics operations and was awarded by Management Certification of North America, an accredited certification body of the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). The AS9100 certification encompasses all provisions of the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard, plus additional aerospace-related quality requirements.
Kanban operates multiple facilities in eastern North Carolina; however, its primary facilities are located less than a half-hour north of Greenville, NC along the US 64 interstate-quality corridor roughly halfway between Raleigh, NC and Norfolk, Virginia. Raleigh is part of the famed Research Triangle and Norfolk is at the heart of the Ports of Virginia facilities around Hampton Roads, the only Panamax-ready port on the US East Coast. The company has served several key customers in several industrial sectors for 30 years and has earned a reputation for quality service.
Kanban’s dedication to quality is evident by the many certifications held by the company for North Carolina logistics services:
