The Martin County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jason Semple will join the organization as its president and chief executive officer. Semple comes with a wealth of experience in the private and public sectors, with the last 10 years of his career devoted to economic development at the local, regional, and state levels. Efforts in these roles have led to the attraction and retention of more than 4,000 jobs and $300 million in tax base.
Williamston, NC – July 13, 2015 – The Martin County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jason Semple will join the organization as its president and chief executive officer. Semple comes with a wealth of experience in the private and public sectors, with the last 10 years of his career devoted to economic development at the local, regional, and state levels. Efforts in these roles have led to the attraction and retention of more than 4,000 jobs and $300 million in tax base.
Semple joins the MCEDC to continue its efforts as the lead organization in recruiting and retaining businesses for Martin County. He will be charged with assisting board members and community leaders in implementing the recently completed strategic plan, which focuses on workforce development and growing targeted industry clusters aligned with local and regional strengths.

Semple began his economic development career in 2005, when he was hired by MCEDC as its Director of Operations and Marketing and NC Telecenter Director. In 2008, he joined the North Carolina Department of Commerce Business & Industry Division as a regional economic developer focused on existing industry, working on economic development projects of diverse size and scope. Most recently, he has served as the statewide economic development analyst with the Office of Digital Infrastructure, the state’s lead organization for broadband initiatives.
